Has Anyone Use The IUD MIrena?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've had ENDO for many years and it has gotten worse since I have gone through menopause. My estrogen level is high and I need Mirena for hormone (progesterone) I also have uterine fibroids cysts. I have heard of adverse side effects (depression, weight gain, blood clots).

I just got mine out after only having it in for 18 days. I haven't had kids, so that might affect how my body tolerated it. It went in fine and the first week was okay. After that, I started to have excruciating pain. I couldn't take it anymore and had it removed. My doctor said my reaction isn't common, but some women's bodies just don't tolerate having a foreign object in there.

Have you tried the smaller one yet? I didn't know that was an option! I go in this Wednesday for a laproscopy and to have my appendix removed because it is infected as well. Im extremely nervous to try the mirena but its my last hope before removing everything. Hope youre feeling well!

Julie did you have the new smaller size mirena in? I too haven't had kids. I had the older version which was bigger. My body also cramped intensely with pain and i had to gave it out. I've been told the new smaller one is less likely to be rejected. My doc wants me to try the new smaller one

My sister has it and she recommends getting it. it can make you bleed at first but it should stop, it lasts for 5 years and the doctors can take it out whenever you like. Everything has side effects in some cases but you can always get it removed if you are unhappy with it.
