What Kind Of Exercise Do You Do?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question đź’

I don't know what to do. I want to be active but the pain overwhelms me. I don't know what to do. I did a dancing video with lots of jumping type of moves and after 15 minutes I was hurdled over in tears. I switched to a short low-impact activity.

What do you recommend? Thank you so much for your help!

Oh it's so hard to not remain able to be active! I went from running/rock climbing/hot yoga 4 days a week, to fighting to stand for more than 2 min in just a few short months!!! But I've recently been able to build up my activity level, on good days I try to walk (I find stairs are good to go up and down if I have the energy, as well as walking outside, fresh air = happy me) light yoga, and lots of foam rolling helps on the more painful days. But remember, endo takes so much to fight, so if you need to take a few extra min to get somewhere or aren't as able to be active as you were before, it'll be ok. You're just healing. (I have to remind myself of this constantly!) fight well my friend, you aren't alone in the battle!!! :)

Start with basics and go from there. Make sure to do warm ups and cool downs. I found 8 min work outs were best for building up. Drink plenty of water before and after. Sports drinks and soda do not help. Relaxing yoga is perfect for after so is meditation

Yoga helps a lot of women deal with the pain. Low impact workouts are good especially if you're just starting out. Start slow and listen to your body. If it hurts, take a break or change exercises. Workouts are going to hurt a little, because you're building up the muscles. But they shouldn't leave you doubled over in pain.

For me the type of exercise depends on how bad the pain is. I really like hot yoga and can do that if pain is moderate. I also use the elliptical, can increase or decrease intensity depending on how I feel. There are days when the pain is so bad that I can't do anything. Hope this helps.
