What Is Prostap Like?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have heard alot about it but not from people who have ever been on the shot. We talk about it with my doctor soon and I would just like to know more. How often do you do the shot? Sidafects? That kinda stuff. thank you in advance.

Hey!

Ok so you can either have a shot every month or you have a shot every 3 months, but you're only really allowed it for 6 months tops. It's damaging for bones teeth and the whole body so you have to take a pill to try and lower the effects on your body- called HRT.
I was on it for 5 months and couldn't face a 6th shot, for me it made no difference to my chronic pain, and gave me a tonne of side effects, my teeth have weird white marks and ridges which they never used to have, I have chronic fatigue, electric shocks in my head, shooting pain up and down my muscles, voice lowered, boobs disappeared and my personality changed quite drastically- allthough that is just my personal experience with it I just want you to know before you take it that it is a rough road. Hot flushes and all. At first when I had the shot I was really poorly, I kept falling asleep everywhere and it was worrying for my partner to keep finding me asleep in random places. However- the injection does buy you time- and maybe could make you pain free for a while to get your life back on track... It did not work that way for me. I needed time because me and my partner were not financially ready to start trying for a baby so I see it as a "pause" button where hopefully the endo didn't grow in the time I was on it. It doesn't cure you, or make any difference to your disease, it only gives you 6 months of hopefully lowered pain and puts you on pause, the endo will return as normal post treatment. Good luck with everything. I hope ive helped! Sorry it's not more positive.
