Hiccups
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have suspected endometriosis on the diaphragm and even possibly in the thoracic cavity. I have started getting horrible cases of hiccups, they hurt so bad. I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this?

Have any of you looked up symptoms of endometriosis on the diaphragm. When I looked it up it was crazy how many symptoms I had that I would have never linked to it. One was shoulder pain. I've been getting massages once a month for years for my shoulder and never linked it up to being linked with my cycle. I pray for better educated doctors and ways to diagnose and treat sooner!

Ill be praying, and I would ask them if they can check your diaphragm.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I had my first surgery in August. I had an abdomen full of endo. I now have terrible pain under my rib cage and all up my right side and in my right back. It actually started in my back. I thought I was having a kidney I infection, but no infection. I also get shortness of breath and pain in my chest. I also get terrible pain in my shoulder. I never associated that with diaphragm endo until doing some research. I've been having massages once a month for years and all this time it's been tied to my period. I sent in my packet to the center for endometriosis care. I had emailed with the surgeon and he assured me they would check my diaphragm. It can easily be missed by a general gyn, because it is usually behind the liver and it's not easy for them to check there. Hope that helps some.

I hardly ever got hiccups in my life until I started getting symptoms of endo on the diaphragm! Now I get them all the time! Sometimes just a random one or two out of nowhere or sometimes the persistent kind that never seem to stop and hurt so bad! I had them pretty much all day yesterday and couldn't find any thing that would stop them.

Yup! I've gotten the hiccups everytime I eat or drink (like a meal or a glass of water, not just a single jelly bean) for years!!! Lately it hurts so bad I end up in tears with sad little hiccups between whimpers! I totally understand you....and my dr said that by the ultrasound and everything, he wouldn't be surprised if the endos on my diaphragm! I have my first surgery in a week and ill see then, but for now I usually just eat in smaller amount (also good cuz it causes less swelling in my tummy, which hurts less) and if I get the hicups, I've found that swallowing a few big gulps of water as if I was swallowing a pill helps get rid of them in most cases! Hope you find relief!!!
