My OB/GYN has been providing me with a script for Percocet to help manage my pain for a year & a 1/2. I consider myself to be a responsible user. He is retiring & not renewing his license to prescribe narcotics. Next week I have an appointment with a pain management center. What can I expect from my new Dr? I definitely have a physical dependency on the Percocet but it is the only way I find relief. I've tried anti inflammatories & multiple NSAIDS. Nothing works as well as the Percs.
Unfortunately for me; one of the o ly things to help is Dilaudid. Which is a narcotic. I hate using it but sometimes its all that works. I ran out a few days ago and was prescribed Gabapentin instead. I've only been on it for two days, but it seems to be helping. It made me a little dizzy the first day, but today seems alright. It's not a narcotic, so might be easier to get? And it's long acting and builds up in your system. I'm still very new to it; but in these first two days it's been better than the dilaudid I was taking before.
The anti inflamatory is extra you take that for inflammation. A pain management helps you manage your pain on top of making sure you do not misuse you pain medication. Which is a good thing. I'm going to pain management now. No problem.
