When Will Surgery Be Arranged?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, just I've got my 2nd hospital appointment tomorrow and just wondered whether with booking surgery it would be something I find out at the appointment or whether the NHS send a letter with the detail of when surgery will be. Any help would be much appreciated. (in my last appointment we briefly talked about surgery but was tried on IBS tablets first) x

Hi @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member they weren't all that helpful to be honest, when I asked how long until surgery he told me it would be within four months! And no one else was able to suggest when it would be. Just have to wait for a letter xx

Thank you, me too! I think the wash is just to use before surgery to be a disinfectant or something! Xx

Not great, but hoping that it won't be nearly as long as that. I know that when you go to the doctors they have to make sure that you are treated within a maximum time frame of 18 weeks so I guess that is why they said 4 months. This was my 2nd appointment at the hospital and to be honest next to nothing happened. At my first hospital appointment I had my weight & blood pressure taken, then explained all of my symptoms and meds that I was on to a student doctor who then repeated them to the gyno whilst I was there. Then the student and gyno both examined my stomach - I was put on IBS medicine and the gyno mentioned doing a laparoscopy if the IBS medicine didn't help. At today's appointment he asked if the medicine had helped I said no. He said then the next option was surgery but it is not definite that they will find anything. He then went through all of the risks of the op. I had to fill in all the consent forms and they gave me a wash to use the day before surgery. Probably wasn't even with the doctor for 5 mins! Sorry for the massive essay! Hope that helps :) xx
