Ovary Pain
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

It's been almost a year now that I have been having pain on/around my right ovary. Ultrasound and all other tests were normal, so the next step is a Laparoscopy. I've had abdominal pain for years, so when my gyno suggested endo, I finally thought I had an answer to my issues! After insurance it's going to cost over $4,000 upfront! My doctor highly recommends the surgery, but the cost seems a bit excessive! For all you ladies who have had a laparoscopy, was it what actually diagnosed the endo… read more

Hi,
Yes it was expensive, took my husband and I a while to pay it off. I went in for my first laparoscopy for a diagnose and the surgeon ended up spending 3 hours in there removing endo. No wonder I was in so much pain! It took me 6 weeks to recover. But afterwards I was able to get pregnant and was pain free for 9+ months.

My endo is now back...but it a different place. I now present in back pain.

Hope that helps

Thanks! Yes just knowing what the problem is finally, after years of pain and issues, will help ease my mind. I'm also thankful that I finally found a doctor who is willing to figure it out!

Just to be clear. It wont necessarily "fix the problem" long term :( I just want you to know that. But hopefully it will short term and give you a sense of power of the disease having a diagnosis and knowing where to go from there. Good luck! I wish you the best and a speedy recovery!!

Agree, medically the only true way to diagnose endo is laparoscopy. Mine as an outpatient procedure in US including my cost and what my insurance paid was approximately $10,0000. I wouldn't do it just for the diagnosis. Find someone who is an expert in endo who will do their best to excise the endo they see. The chances for you to see improvement is highly correlated to the skill of the surgeon performing the procedure. If you live near any of the Mayo Clinics HIGHLY recommend.
