Blood Clots: What's Normal?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had Endo surgery #2 in November, but starting in October I have had a huge problem with passing blood clots during my period. I pass a lot of them and they are quite large...some of them not much smaller than the size of my palm. Since it started before my surgery, I don't think it's surgery related. They are super messy and gross, but I'm also concerned about what is causing them. I've always had clots, but nothing quite like this! :( I mentioned it to my dr at my post-op appt and he… read more

Hi, I’ve only just joined this group. I am due a lap in a few weeks and I get Large blood clots. Same as you some length of my palm and it’s awful. I wonder if it’s because of a cyst or something else that is obviously blocking the blood from getting out, therefore causing a clot. Did they find something blocking your uterus during your op?

I was told recently by a gynecologist that heavy bleeding and clots are more a symptom of adenomyosis and not endo. I'm not stating this as 100% fact, because we all know gynecologists can be wrong, but I thought I would tell you what I was told as far as clotting and heavy bleeding.

Hey Julie, clots are common with Endo. I think the pill would usually be suggested to try to lighten your periods.

Hi
I lose blood clots every month, the first couple days of my period I lose them every time I wee.
I assume it's my endometriosis as it would make sense if I'm shedding maybe??

Im mot sure how much this will help but I have been looking into some other explanations for the obscene amount of blood I lose (ive had merina IUD for a year now). von willebrand disease is a common bleeding disorder that slips under the radar and causes large clots. Ive just now found a doctor that will listen to me so I am hoping for progress and a great many tests to be done. I have yet to be diagnosed so I am also looking for advice and what to watch for.
