I was diagnosed with endometriosis recently which explains alot of things over the past years..horrible periods..terrible hip groin pain and infertility. I had a laporoscopy about 20 years ago to investigate my infertility and take care of a cyst but the gynecologist didn't mention endometriosis. The new gynecologist gave me 3 options. 1. Laporoscopy to remove cyst, ovary and @Mirena to help control the endometriosis symptoms. 2 .Hysterectomy leaving right ovary to hold off menopause 3… read more
Thank you for your perspective. I haven't explored a holistic approach. I've been on birth control pills for 15 years and my endometriosis symptoms didn't appear until I stopped bcp on the advice of my Dr ...I know bcp control my symptoms but my Dr feels that long term bcp can lead to a stroke. I'm going to try the Mirena and hope that it gives me some relief..If not I'm going to explore other options.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I can't take the pill so my options are limited. I'm going to try the Mirena..if I get side effects I'll have it removed and go with a hysterectomy. I initially turned down the hysterectomy because it would mean 6 - 8 weeks of down time...I've heard good and bad about the Mirena so I'll try it to see if it works for me ☺
Hey, I have basically same thing you have, cysts and endo. My doctor recommended me to get on the pill to help me deal with the pain. I was a bit stubborn and lazy so asked to get Mirena installed. It did helped me with the pain, but had terrible side effects (depression, hair loss, weight gain) after a little under a year and lots of research on the internet i realized it was all due to Mirena so I had it removed. Strangely I have experienced very little pain due to endo since. I havent had sex since so I have no way of knowing if sex is still awfully painful, but at least I have very few episodes of sharp pelvic pain, only a little bit when I have bowels.
