Hair Thinning From Birth Control. Need Suggestions
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I need to stay on birth control awhile longer. My hair has thinned from all of the birth controls I have started and stopped. Does anyone have any suggestions for me beside the obvious to get off the pill. I follow an endo diet and take supplements.

So good so far. Interesting about the IUD. My doc asked me awhile ago about the Mirena (the IUD). I wasn't sure then. Still not sure now. It sort of freaks me out to have something I couldn't stop if I didn't like it.

Yes. I did get the coconut oil and trying to use it in between using the Olive Oil.

I hope you have some family coming to be with you. I don't have a lot of family support here, which scares me sometimes, as I have a 4 year old I am home with. I try not to think the worst. My Mom lives in CA and would hopefully come out if I needed surgery. Of course, my husband is here, but he just started a new job and I think he feels nervous to take to much time off.

I dreaded my lap in 2010, but honestly I think it was a good choice reflecting back. Recovery is hard, but the long term benefits are well worth it. Just keep telling yourself that. You are young and your body will heal fast.

Let me know how it all goes. I will try to check in too. :)

I hope the cyst stays small and I am happy your diet is helping. Did you get a chance to see if you like the coconut oil? Oh no, that's horrible. Side effects are the worse - its like what more do you want from our bodies? I hope you can find something that will work for you. My doc suggested I could also do an IUD. Have you considered that? I am with you girl, no thanks to the diva cup!

I am doing okay. Preparing myself for my surgery - lots to do around the house and making sure everything is in place at work for the month I will be out. I feel a little more at ease aftet speaking with one of the surgeons and watching some videos Kaiser sent me to prepare. I feel so uneasy because I have never had surgery and it is hard to anticipate everything, but I am in a better mental capacity and just taking things as they come and focusing on how I can prepare for a good recovery. Thank you for asking =)

How are things aside from the side effects? Everything else OK?

It's going well. I had an ultrasound done last week on Friday and things looked stable meaning no new cysts and one of the cyst I had on the left ovary resolved! I have one small cyst on each ovary at this point. Under 2cm. I sort of take that as a good sign and that the diet is helping. I did try the progesterone only pill and felt it made my hair fall out worse. Plus it didn't really help the ovary pain very much. I have still yet to see my gyno on the 9th. Right now I am taking Orthotricycline Lo. Not helping a whole lot, but the nurses want me to give it a full cycle, or two.

How are you? Any thing you have discovered with your diet? Also, I am considering researching some more about feminine products without harmful chemicals. Any tips? I don't think I could do a diva cup, or anything like that.

My doc was suggestion progesterone shots which dont have much of the harmful effects as BC does. Have you looked into that? Hows the diet going?
