What To Expect When Using Mirena (IUD)??
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am going to have Mirena inserted this week and I was wondering what to expect from the visit to my gynaecologist. Also what can I expect after it's been inserted?

I've been on Visanne for almost 2 years now, but have decided to switch to Mirena to use as a contraceptive and treatment.

Has anyone had good/bad experiences with Mirena?

I had it for a year give or take, it was a long time ago. I had really bad pelvis pain, and I was getting all the sever side effects of the mirena.

I had a bad experiences with the mirena. I had to have my surgically removed because it went through the wall. So make sure you get all your info and know the side effects of everything before hand. I know some woman had no problems and some had bad reactions. So just keep an eye on it.

I have no experience with the mirena being inserted as mine was done under anaesthetic but I can tell you about my two experiences with it. the first time worked great at reducing the pain so much that i felt like i was living pre endo. mine unfortunately came loose and i had to have it taken out and go back on the pill. as soon as i was back on the pill the pain started and is only just settling down with my second mirena being put in a couple weeks ago. honestly mine cramps somewhat bad in the beginning but for me it's all worth it if it stops my period and i'm able to start doing the things i love. hope it works out for you xx
