Laprascopy
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Doctors have suspicions that I have endometriosis, and they want to do a laparoscopy.. What does your body feel like after a laparoscopy? And what endometriosis symptoms did you have before being diagnosed?

I had my first surgery at 18. The surgery usually is out patient which means you will go home the same day. My first surgery took 2 weeks to recover, mostly just getting my strength back, you will be achy and in pain for the first few days but they give you medication for that. If you do have endo your symptoms should ease for a little while. Make sure you’re surgeon does an excision surgery and not just burning off what they see because you have a higher chance it will return since your basically cutting a weed rather than taking it out from the root. I’ve had two surgeries so far and will be having a third one this year with an endo specialist hoping that this time they will be able to get all or most of it.

the main symptom I had before I was diagnosed was painful periods, I would miss at least one day of school or work because of it and thought it was normal until the day my mom rushed me to the ER because I was in so much pain I threw up and almost passed out. I was 16 at the time and I’m 28 now
