A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I have decided to start birth control pills I have never been on any birth control pill and I’m a bit nervous to start. I was on the Mirena IUD for a total of 6 years it was good to me except I had tummy problems and well I believe it gave me cyst or maybe it was my endo (at this moment I wasent diagnosed with it yet) so anyways now I’m needing to take the pill or nuvaring. I know everyone is different but I read that weight gain happens when being on the pill. Is that true? Also the nuvaring… read more

I am on lo loestrin fe for about a year now. As i understand it, this pill either drastically lightens your period or stops it. For the first two months my period was very short and light but now I havent gotten my period since May. I have gained some weight and i did experience some headaches and felt anxious but that subsided in a week for me.

My experience, I could never do the pill I would forget to take it and I never would take it the same time. I tried the nuvaring, It made me feel like I was in full blown labor. The best thing for me to control my endo was the depo shot.
My daughter has been on ortho tri lo. It has helped lighten her periods, cramps, acne, and mood swings. Prior to taking the pill she was having silver dollar size clots, and cramps that would leave her bedridden for up to 2 days.
A doctor told me that bc won't cause weight gain. What does happen is the increased feeling of hunger that makes you eat more calories than you can burn off. Mostly if you stay active it shouldn't be a problem. Hope you find something that works for you.

Ortho tri cyclen uses dif levels of hormones throughout the pill pack. That pill makes me crazy cuz of the constant fluctuating hormones. As far as other pills, ive tried a bunch and nothing ever worked for me, the endo still grew and the cysts still developed. The depo provera shot worked great for me but it caused way too much weight gain for me
