I'm sorry to hear what your going through. Yes it does take longer to heal open wide. I would think it would be at the least 8 weeks before u could drive but sometimes you might not get your strength up like you were before for 6 months. I've been through it all & a Lap is the best way but if you have other problems then that would be the only way to go. I need to have a open wide one but dr. say no more cutting bc I have bad adhesions too. If you don't have any insurance it will cost a lot. I'm on Medicare & it is still costing me a lot. Is there any way you could receive help from where you live or if you have insurance that would help if you don't have a high deductible. Well I hope I was able to help you a little .
