Help Selecting A Doctor
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am having a difficult time selecting a new PCP.

I have changed twice in the past two years with unpleasant experiences with both. My long time PCP (age 18-25) did not diagnose my endo, instead prescribing me Prozac for my chronic fatigue and several narcotics for my pain. I also spent several years seeing specialist because every pap I ever had came back abnormal with no explanation as to why. After several years of having to leave work because I had to take pain killers before I passed out… read more

You need a Specialist. believe me a Primary care dr. can't handle it. Look on Face Book on Nancy Nooks & they have doctors to choose from. You need a dr. that is an expert in endo.

We are in the exact same boat! I am also 2 years post op, not 100% pain free but daily living and pushing myself is something I have trouble with. I find it very hard to trust when doctors put their specialization on their website. I have had no luck finding a doc who actually 100% focuses on my endo and listens to me. Good luck!

I know it sounds lame but just keep looking. I’m on my fifth specialist and maybe more to come. I’ve had a few good and s few useless in a word.

If you don’t feel a connection of help keep going until you do.

I moved along as needed and yes they will look at you like why me now? You’ve already seen this many...Feel free to be honest if you didn’t feel they helped say so.

I’ve learned the hard way the only one looking out for you is YOU. Eventually you’ll find a fit it took a friend of mine 9 try’s so don’t give up. Your person is out there, thankfully there’s info and blogs to help steer you so even if you can’t find a specialist rt away you can tell your dr what path your taking to what. Ask for referrals even if they don’t like it. Mine still puts up a bit of a stink when I ask but it’s my rt.

I researched ablation and pretty much demanded it. My dr found a great specialist for the operation & he did super in surgery (not so great at any ongoing personal support level though) so that’s fine.
I dont think theres anything wrong in looking out for your best interests.

And fatigue is definitely a symptom I was bleeding heavy for months, working, had two kids and the fatigue was so bad my iron was so low i needed an infusion and felt better. I don’t know if you’ve had those issues?

You’ll have to come to terms with that you just can’t do it all. You may have to alter some things in your life now and don’t feel bad about that.

You know for the first time ever I used the online shopping from our local groc store while I drank my morning coffee for pick up later that day. Even though I’m quite capable of groc shopping ( I’m only in my 40’s) I tend to run out of steam faster with the fatigue. This gave me the opportunity to do some cleaning instead and since I just picked up my groc I still had enough steam to do more later on
( which is rare ) I look at it as a bonus I saved money as no add ons like when I’m in store plus I had a nice clean house and actually felt good about the day. It’s the little changes do for you we’re not super women.

I’m hopeful things will go your way 💕

I will do that thank you! I am a member of a few Facebook support groups but have not been able to find a recommended doctor in my area.
