My surgeon is claiming that he has not had to do another excision surgery on patients above 30. He says he does 200-300 excisions a year. I am not a doctor, but don't think this is consistent with the literature or other surgeons' success rates. I want to proceed with the surgery, but am having a hard time believing this statement. What do other people think?
Thanks!

Hi I hope your doing well since your surgery. You are right about the dr.s My dr. at the Mayo Clinic is 69 yrs old & I was hesitant about that but he is also a Robot dr & has a lot of experience. He is semi retired so I'm hoping to be able to do that test on Mon. so that we can have a pla n going. I don't know if you know that I have 2 lesions on my larynx that I am worried about. They did biopsies so now I wait for results & that's not till Aug 29th. My whole summer has been shot & full of worry. Best of luck on your recovery. Prayer s& hugs Tigreyes
There’s actually only a small handful of excision surgeons in the US, so his claim may be accurate based on OB’s that perform excision surgeries, there’s a certain level of skill and precision that excision surgery requires, it takes lots of practice to obtain that skill. So the surgeon would in fact need to have lots of surgeries under his belt to make that claim. Read his reviews, has he won any awards? Done teaching to other surgeons around the country? Is he on any committees or boards that specializes in gynecologic surgeries? We’re allowed to ask questions and check credentials, before we have choose a surgeon. I hope that you find the right surgeon for your specific needs.😀
