Just been prescribed Vissane - is there anything I can do to minimise the side effects ?
Hi, I've been on Visanne for just over a year now. The side effects subsided a bit for me after the first 6 months. My GYN told me it will take 3 months to get into your system properly, but for me it took 6 months. I've been period free since Jan 2018. The first 6 months I bled every 2 weeks, had the worst headaches, I was exhausted, feeling fatigued, moody, weight gain rapidly, joint pain, bloated, nausea, swollen legs and feet, itchy skin, lower back pain. If I think of something else I'll tell you. After being period free since Jan, I still get headaches, which I just take Panado for. My lower back still pains but not as much, my legs still get swollen , but I make sure I drink a lot of water to get rid of all that water retention. I try not to skip breakfast, if I do the headache is worse. The weight gain is still there, but I've changed my eating habits, which helps. I still sometimes get light cramps when it's supposed to be that time ( I call it my ghost period..haha you feel it but you don't see it ) , but it cannot be compared to the pain I had before Visanne. For me personally, I'll take the side effects any day instead of having all that excruciating pain every month. I know it's a long comment, sorry for that. So with Visanne my GYNAE told me to hold on and push through , take my tablet every day at the exact same time! xx Good luck!!
