Advice On Issues With Birth Control For Period Pain
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to deal with the side effect of birth control. i have been place on several different types of pill ( both combine and progesterone only), to help with suspected endometriosis. None of the birth control pills i have tired seem to be helping improve the pain and other symptoms that come long with my period. my period have just become way more frequent to the point where i am having them every other week. I agree with @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member, knowing if it is endometriosis will give you some relief because not knowing what is causing the pain is more stressful. I would also say that your next step is to find a doctor, an obgyn can help you find an endo specialist or you can look on Nancy's Nook on FB, who will listen and is willing to perform an laparoscopy to get a definite diagnosis on what is going on.
I have been on multiple BCs myself. I started with the Depo Shot (HATED it!) and went through multiple pill forms before I finally found the one I'm on now. I take Minastrin FE 24, I skip the sugar pills at the end of each pack and go straight into my next pack. I have been on it for over 3 years, haven't had a cycle since May 2015. I still have some pain but no where near as bad as it was before I got on this BC.
Everyone's body is different on how it reacts to different BC, unfortunately I did a trial and error for 4 years before I found this one and it work with my body instead of against it.
I know that trying to find the right doctor and the right BC is annoying, aggravating and frustrating. However, I promise that when you find both, it is like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.
I would definitely find an OBGYN or a new OBGYN to get another opinion on a laparoscopy. Look on Nancy's Nook, I have read a lot of women's stories on here about finding a great doctor through Nancy's Nook.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask any of us!
Sending prayers, love and good vibes!!

I know there are many paths to go with this & every individual should take their journey how they want, but I would honestly say your next step could possibly be a laparoscopy to know for sure if it is endometriosis. Coming from personal experience, just knowing for sure if that's what's causing your pain holds so much power.

The only pill gave me pain relief is an almost natural progesterone - prometrim 100mg * 10 days /month to regulate the period ( I dont have regular cycle), my body flared up much much less with progesterone than progestins (provera, visanne... ) which acts like progesterones in the body, but it's synthetic. I believe my immu system rejects and gets very inflamed by synthetic hormones.
