How Quickly Can Endo Come Back?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis in 2017 during an excision surgery, then last year, I had to undergo another surgery because the pain was intolerable, and I was full of endo again. Now, four months later, my symptoms are returning again... I am only 25 years old... I don't want to have to do surgery every single year. I guess my case of endo is super aggressive even when being treated with hormone therapy. I don't know what to do... I don't know if I should get a hysterectomy this… read more

It was the same for me. I only had a few months of reduced pain after my excision surgery. I tried the natural route after that. I saw a naturopath and she treated me for gut issues and put me on LDN and now I have very little pain.

If 2 surgeries haven’t helped you it might be worth trying something different. It’s always possible that you have some underlying issue that creates an imbalance in your body and feeds the endo. Conventional doctors don’t think about your body as a whole and that doesn’t work for some of us.

I'm in about the same situation as you. I'm 27 years old. I had surgery almost a year ago now, but my Endo pain came back within only a few months after my surgery. I've been trying to last as long I can without needing surgery again, but it's to the point now the pain and other symptoms are unbearable and effecting my everyday life too much. I don't like the idea of having surgery every few months or even every year. Though lately the pain is so bad that most days I can't get out of bed and get dressed without the help of my husband, I'm unable to work because standing for even an hour is excruciating, and it's effecting my studying for college. The Depo shot only helps so much, and any other treatment options I tried have failed. My doctor basically recommended getting pregnant as soon as I'm ready, since the pain is supposedly gone during pregnancy, then getting a hysterectomy immediately afterwards. I don't like the idea of forcing my body through menopause at such a young age, and possibly not even getting rid of the Endo for good.. if it spreads to other organs, getting rid of the uterus may not be the end of our problems. I wish I had better news for you, but I'm feeling pretty hopeless too. If you find a better solution, let me know. I would love to stop being in pain all the time!

Hi Chakell, I really hope you are able to have this solved once and for all! I can’t help much as I’ve only just had my keyhole surgery where they operated on six sites telling me the Endo was extensive. Although despite this being removed 2 weeks ago I have experienced Endo pains over the last 2 days! I’m hoping this will pass but it’s too early to know, did you experience this? If it continues I will be requesting a hysterectomy myself but I have 2 children and wouldn’t want that if I didn’t already have children.
