After Hysterectomy, Were Your Fatigue And Nausea Gone?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

My dr has recommended a hysterectomy (uterus/cervix) and keeping the one ovary I have left (I lost the other to endo last year).

Of those who’ve had a hysterectomy, once you were completely healed, did the fatigue and nausea (pre-hysterectomy) go away? I live with both on a very regular basis.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I had a lot of endo removed, including some scar tissue it created that bound a few organs together. I knew that the chances existed that it would come back, and I knew that it was very possible for even the best doctors to miss a cell or two. I was lucky and none of my doctors ever said it was a cure, but it was an extreme treatment for an extreme case and I am very thankful that I was able to get that treatment (a lot of doctors I have heard of and one that I had to deal with didn't think that I should have that option as I was young and without children - nevermind the fact I don't want kids)

I am thankful that I had the procedure done (still would do again), but am thinking that at least part of what I am going through ATM is endo reoccurring. Luckily we have more knowledge than we did even a few years ago and with that knowledge comes even more tools 😊

I had a hysterectomy in July 2018- roughly 8 months ago, I feel like a new person. I rarely have nausea and no fatigue, I'm a writer and self-published author so the fatigue I bring about is self-inflicted haha! but seriously, read my story. I went through HELL, plus a bowel resection, before having to have a hysterectomy. I'm so glad those diseased organs are out of my body. EVERYTHING feels better, no inflammation, no belly issues, I'm about to start running for exercise and I'm ABLE to, whereas before I would go home and live with a heating pad and pain killers! It's amazing.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I had a hysterectomy and after healing, I had zero symptoms for years. For me, a hysterectomy was the right choice and I would 100% do it again, but I do wish that I would have understood that endo is a chronic inflammatory disease as I think I would have made better health choices during my time without symptoms (currently I am having severe symptoms and I think it is directly related to me not being diligent about my diet, exercise, and stress management. Hope this helps - feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns (when I did my procedure years ago I felt like I couldn't find anyone else in my situation - I am so thankful that now there is this online community)

I tried and hated nuvaring. I’m on progestin only pills. It isn’t doing a lot.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member, when you had a hysterectomy, was all the endometriosis excised or did your surgeon perform ablation?

I ask because if any disease was left behind, it will usually recur.😢.
