Painkillers
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have suspected endometriosis and am looking for advice on painkillers if trying to conceive. I had a laparoscopy 2 years ago. No endo was found but had a merina coil fitted and all pelvic/ibs symptoms disappeared for about 18mths. Since then the pain and other symptoms have been gradually returning to the point of being quite severe (but not as frequent or long lasting as they were pre coil and no period just very light spotting).

Anyway I’m having my coil removed tomorrow as we are going to… read more

I have just started to take turmeric 3 times a day as apparently good for reducing inflammation. So far so good but I need another couple of weeks to go full cycle on it. I used to take mefenamic acid in my early twenties and found it really good, I had no idea it reduced chances of pregnancy - I actually had an unplanned pregnancy whilst taking it!

I was told by my pelvic floor physical therapist to alternate heat and cold, as heat can sometimes worsen inflammation. I'm with @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member with hiding stuff under your clothes. I use those ThermaCare heat pads that stick in your underwear. There's tons of little flat cold packs; I got one at Amazon.

Ask your doctor if you could do pelvic floor PT. That has been my GODSEND. Knowing which muscles to stretch when etc. I also was prescribed compounded suppositories (muscle relaxants) but no idea if those are safe in pregnancy. I did not choose to have children and my uterus is gone by choice.

Yes aleve is a great pain killer, make sure you're not drinking coffee or sweet tea with caffeine (that can cause worse pain & issues)!

You could try aleve (naproxen sodium) sometimes it works mildly better for me than ibuprofen though it’s still not great at all. Heat packs have been my lifesaver this year, sometimes I’ll even bring it to school and use it during lecture. I look stupid but it calms the pain enough I can tolerate sitting in lecture.
