What Do You Do For Birth Control While On Orlissa?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I have my post-lap exam on Thursday and I think my doctor plans to prescribe me Orlissa. I've heard Orlissa works by regulating hormones, therefore it won't work as well if you are also on hormonal birth control (which I am). I suspect I will be taken off the bc pill and put on Orlissa for ~6 months ---but what do I do for birth control for 6 months?

My doctor took me off hormonal birth control completely while on Orilissa. Said taking it was a potential risk for blood clots. So I would use barrier methods instead. Iā€™m finishing up the 6 month treatment and havent had any periods while on it.

I think it's actually the opposite. I think Orilissa makes a combination pill not work bc Orilissa cuts down on the estrogen in your body. Like Kate said, you can use a progesterone only pill.

One without estrogen. That's what I'm using right now since I'm on the orilissa too. I take Micronor. It's a pill.
