What Do I Do?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Would the doctor make you get a hysterectomy if you have bleeding for a whole month straight with no stopping? I have been having bleeding that has been non stop and some pain and it sucks. I feel depressed and i feel insecure and frustrated. What do i do?

I didnt bleed that heavily and my doctor recommended an endometrial ablation. The removal of the lining that you "shed each month". It was decision I made. But, you are no longer recommended to have children. I had it done when I was 31 and 10 years later I hardly have a period. The results vary but I've never read a story that it didnt, at least, help.

Heather, that’s great news to hear. I m going through the same thing that Cayla is right now. Progesterone only stopped the bleeding for 3 days then it came back for 25 days now. Doc put me on combination BC pills 3 days ago, hasn’t stopped it yet. Had to have a hysteroscopy and d&c 6 years ago to stop the bleeding. They burned some endometriosis while in there as well. Worked for 6 years.. having issues again now.

Amanda gave a great answer.

Don’t let anyone talk you into any decision. But bleeding a month straight is pretty unpleasant and a dr might suggest one depending on your other issues. It is most likely a hormone imbalance and you need progesterone.

No one can make you get a hysterectomy. Your doctor will try to figure out whats wrong and discuss options for treatment if needed. You should make an appointment.
