Hi Everyone, I am new here. I found out I had endometriosis when they ran a test during my fibroid removal surgery in March. My OBGYN suggested Lo Loestrin because before my period I get really bad fatigue which makes working difficult. I also have super heavy periods and I always have to be near a bathroom which also makes working difficult.
I have never been on birth control before so before I fill the prescription, I was wondering what everyone's experiences were with Lo Loestrin and if it… read more
It didn’t help me either.
Yes I meant that it didn't change my symptoms much. My cycle was still the same duration and amount and my pain level didn't change much. When I say much, I mean the pain was still significant enough that I knew this wasn't going to be the answer to my Endo pain.
For me, it did lessen the bleeding significantly, and the overall pain, but I ended up going off of it because the side effects for me were awful.
The first couple of months I had terrible mood swings.
Then headaches started. They increased in frequency and severity until I was having a migraine once a week. The pill also increased my intra-ocular pressure, causing me to need a stronger eyeglass perscription. Eyes went back to normal after I went off of it.I did gain a bit of weight but that could have just me being in my 20s and not taking care of myself. The other weird thing was for several months after I went off of it, I had a burning pain in my bellybutton for the first two weeks of my cycle.
I took that for awhile. It was the last one I was on before my hysterectomy. It didn't really change much for me. I didn't have any of the side effects, but I know everybody is different. Honestly, I've been on a LOT of different birth controls for Endo purposes and that's the only one I didn't have side effects with. I hope that everything works out for you with it.
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member thank you for sharing your experience with me! I will take that into consideration. With treatments I find that you really have to weigh the benefits against the side effects. Any BC or treatment recommendations that had a benefit that outweighed the side effects for you?
