Undiagnosed — Do I Have Endometriosis?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello, ladies!

I am new here and I want to know if I have endometriosis based from the symptoms you get. I read about it and other symptoms, and I truly believe I have it, but doctors have not diagnosed me with it. I have gone to countless doctors in my city, have gotten scans after scans, yet there is no sign of cysts or anything they can see. So I haven’t been diagnosed with endometriosis.

My story
Ever since I had my period at age 14, i’ve had really bad cramps and it gets worse as I get… read more

Try and find an actual specialist that deals with endometriosis. You can have scan after scan and never have anything show up. The only true way to find out if you have endo is to have a laparoscopy surgery.

I've been doing a lot of reading about endometriosis recently, and everything you've shared sounds so much like it. I think you're totally right in assuming you might have it! I have also experienced a lot of similar symptoms and a lot of doctors ignoring my symptoms and not suggesting it could be endo. When I've brought it up they said, it might be, but they didn't do anything about it. Like, Tracid22 said, the only way to officially diagnose it is with surgery. However, I feel like if you spoke to a different/better OBGYN, some one would be able to agree with you that your symptoms sound like it's a good possibility, after ruling out any other possible causes for your issues. (Long story short, I finally recently had a provider tell me he's 99% sure I have endometriosis, and it was an oncologist gynecologist I was sent to because of growths on my ovaries. I'll probably need surgery but don't have a plan yet.) Anyway, I would encourage you to stay strong and patient and keep fighting for yourself. Read some books about endometriosis or spend time reading on here and I bet you'll find many women with similar symptoms. Continue to try to find a different provider. Look for an endometriosis specialist if you can! Good luck.

Defo sounds like endometriosis your story is alot like mine first period at 14 and from then hell. Missed school from not being able to leave my bed I got rushed into hospital with suspected appendix rupture which turned out to be bad endometriosis. I was 16 when I got diagnosed and have had 4 different specialist's who all wanted to do different things. I would push for further investigation to see if it is that for sure. Your not alone so don't even think that there's no one to listen Coz there is plenty of us here. All the best xx

Thank you! Yes, I am looking for another gynecologist who will listen to me and send me to a specialist so I can get a laparoscopy. I hope you feel better and get surgery to ease the pain! Keep us updated on your journey.
