Anemia + High Platelet Count (thrombocytosis)
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Good morning lady warriors,

I am 3 month post lap. My cronic anemia persists and my blood tests continue to show high platelets. This is called thrombocytosis. My gyno is concerned and had sent me to a hematologist and now blood tests to diagnose the situation. I would be very appreciative of anyone else with this situation could share with me their experience.

Thank you!

I had iron deficiency anemia but it improved when they took my uterus out and I stopped bleeding through Super Plus tampons plus an overnight pad every 1-2 hours during my period. My platelets have always been normal.

I wonder if you have any family history of blood diseases like hemophilia or other types of anemia? There's so many and I'm sure the hematologist asked you. The other thing is a lot of us Endo Warriors have autoimmune diseases, which can show up first with those blood tests, as I understand from my doctor. That's why I'm seeing a rheumatologist next month; I have a family history of lupus. Might be worth asking the hematologist his/her thoughts on that?

Curious if you ever got an answer for this?

I have been seeing an hematologist for a high platelet count. She has basically ruled that it is more than likely my inflammation marker from endometriosis.

of course! I had my appointment with the hematologist today. She said that my situation was too complicated, too many factor, to be able to come to a diagnosis yet. She sent another battery of exams to be done... She said that we need to be patient with this process. Will keep you updated. big hug!
