Ovarian Excision And Ovarian Function
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hi y'all,

I'm noticing that my estrogen seems off. I'm having issues with periods, headaches and hot flashes. I have not had anything removed in either of my surgeries but my left ovary had a deep implant that was removed and has been heavily damaged by cysts and adhesions. It was again cut open earlier this year to clean it up. I'm noticing that i barely get periods anymore and then spend a week afterwards with a migraine.

I'm having trouble finding info on what happens to ovaries after… read more

Ugh, I'm sorry. Do you even have a primary care provider in your area? They can usually do the basic thyroid tests, etc. Do you have a gynecologist? The only excision surgeons I know of are at Mayo in Phoenix, Dr. Seckin in NYC and the Center for Endo Care in Atlanta. But I'm sure there must be others. Did you try searching for other women who live where you are on this site? I also looked at the Medical Conference Link for the recent Endometriosis Foundation of America meeting when I needed a new surgeon. Several surgeons spoke; maybe there's one closer to you? Also feel free to read my story and recommendations tab for other docs I've consulted or had surgery with.

My surgeries were 3 years apart, both with what is considered an excision specialist but I wasn't thrilled with either of them. I haven't been to the doctor because I have to find a new one πŸ˜•

I'm sorry to hear all that. Did you have surgery with an endo excision specialist? Sounds like maybe not, if they had to go back in so soon? Have you seen your doctor about this? My doc monitors my thyroid and hormone levels regularly since those can get messed up pretty quickly with Endo
