Pregnancy With Endometriosis After Depo Provera?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all :)
I’m new to this page but my wife & I are ready to have a baby after 10 years. I have always had severe endo pain which can cause me to get lightheaded, pass out for a few min and vomit. Because of this I went on Depo Provera as it was affecting my daily life. I just got off of the shot after 6 years (nervous for the pain to creep back in but I want a baby so bad I’m willing to do anything) and my questions are:

Have any of you taken Depo Provera and gotten pregnant after? If so, how… read more

Welcome! I was on the depo for about 6 years before trying to conceive. My advice would be to get your levels and ovulation tested right away to save time, we realised over a year in that I wasn't actually ovulating. Once we knew what the problems were it didn't take long for pregnancy (I ended up taking clomid which has side effects but the best one was our son)

Sor, were you not ovulating because of being on the Depo for those years?

I have a cousin who has a child now (3months), they asked someone (a guy) to donate sperm for them. It was agreement with 3 people, my cousin slept with that guy on agreed days. Now they have a child

Welcome to EndoTeam and I'll just start by saying I'm sending loads of baby dust!! I never took Depo and am childfree by choice, but wanted to leave some info anyway. I hope that's OK. I had Kaiser for a while and it was so frustrating. My gyno was great; she admitted she knew nothing about endo and was willing to do whatever I asked. I had already decided on excision surgery, so my husband and I changed to a PPO during open enrollment. But I went to see Kaiser's "endo surgeon" just to cover everything. She just wanted to take my uterus and ovaries and give me Lupron. I couldn't run out of the room fast enough!

IMHO, I am a huge fan of excision surgery. It greatly increases the odds of not only conception but a healthy pregnancy. Many EndoWarriors have problems not only getting pregnant, but with keeping the pregnancy, and often that's from adhesions and our organs being out of place, thanks to endo.

I'm not sure where you're located, but feel free to read my story and recommendations tab. There's more details on the surgeons I consulted or used. I would also suggest Nancy's Nook on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/NancysNookEndoEd/), if you haven't joined yet. Lots of articles and a list of excision surgeons.

I’ll leave a resource list here of stuff about endo I've found helpful over the years. Other users have said it helped too. Let me know if I can do anything.

And this is a good article from one of the top excision centers on infertility

And of course, more baby dust!! Keep us posted, if you're cool with that.
