That's a big question. It depends on why you're getting the hysterectomy. It's important to know first off that a hysterectomy doesn't cure endo. Neither does removing ovaries cure endo. I wish it did. A hysterectomy CAN cure things like fibroids, adenomyosis and other problems with the uterus. And some EndoWarriors do get pain relief from it even if nothing else is identified. So I'm not saying don't have a hysterectomy, just that it's important to know all the facts.

Also, it's important to have the proper definition of the type of hysterectomy you're having. The definitions are consistent, but are thrown around and often confused. 😃 This article is good at identifying the various types.

Nancy's Nook on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/NancysNookEndoEd/) is a good resource. Lots of articles and a list of excision surgeons. You can search "hysterectomy" in the search bar and read a bunch. Also, if you want to preserve your fertility by keeping your uterus, but your uterus is a pain source, many EndoWarriors have a presacral neurectomy and then a hysterectomy when they're done having kids.

I’m 97% pain free since my two excision surgeries, so I’m a huge fan. I did have a hysterectomy (entire uterus, including cervix removed) but kept my ovaries. In my case, that was for horrible adenomyosis. I’m not saying it’s a cure, but it is the gold standard of treatment and helps the majority of EndoWarriors who have it. I also needed lots of pelvic floor physical therapy and diet changes. Many of us need multiple therapies for healing.

I’ll leave a resource list I made of stuff about endo I've found helpful over the years. Other users have said it helped too. It covers things from endo basics to excision surgery to diet and wellness. Let me know if I can do anything. Happy to help however I can.
