I'm supposed to have a hysterectomy, partial in october but I'm scared I backed out 3 times because I've heard bad things about symptoms after surgery ,i need advice asap please.im 42 and had endometriosis since age 12.
Hysterectomy doesnt cure endometriosis, my mom had it but she was 48 at the time. She seems fine after surgery, it was a major surgery because she also had fibroids
I'm far from an expert, but from what I've gathered from other women on this site, a hysterectomy doesn't typically help endo symptoms, but can help if you also have adeno (adenomyosis). If it's a possibility for you from a financial standpoint, from what I understand excision surgery tends to yield longer lasting and more positive results as compared to ablative surgery. Whichever way, I hope you get some pain relief/ positive results .
I had a hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. I think this is a very personal decision and one that only you can make yourself. It took me a year to make the decision to have a total hysterectomy.
Look at the medical evidence available, for instance we know a hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis but it is for adenomyosis, instances of chronic pain relief in patients with endometriosis using varying treatment plans. Look at your surgeon's statistics. Make sure you have a surgeon who is properly trained and that you trust and make the decision that is right for you. <3
trust your gut then
I have but he said it was my decision
