With endometriosis only being confirmed with laparoscopic surgery, I was curious if many of you have undergone the procedure to confirm a diagnosis vs. treating the symptoms assuming you have it? If you did have surgery- how was your recovery and symptoms after the procedure
I'm 40yrs old and over the past 6months I have experienced urinary urgency/frequency, pelvic pain, a change in bowel habits- constipation and diahhrea, intense bloating and sudden food intolerances, overall abdominal… read more
Sorry to hear about your struggles recently. I can only say from my own experience, but having diagnostic surgery was one of the best choices I ever made for myself. It was reassuring to have an offical diagnosis and know that the symptoms weren’t in my head. Also the pains and symptoms I had experienced for years were practically gone after the surgery as they removed lesions while they were in there. This has absolutely changed my quality of life, in so many ways. So from my opinion it is absolutely worth doing the surgery.
It took my around 2 weeks all in all to recover after the surgery, and return back to work, it was painful for the first few days but it did get easier and I was given some good painkillers. Consipation was the worst symptom from the surgery/medication, so for that I would advice taking a stool softener asap after the surgery, if you choose to have it.
I hope this helps you and you sre able to make the right decision for yourself! Either way I hope you start feeling better!
Please read my post. Perhaps my experience with a number of surgeries and laparoscopic surgeries can help you decide. I would not hesitate to have the scar tissue removed. For me it help with the pain. But of course the underlying cause of endometriosis is not known. From my experience, I believe it is all related to the endocrine system and how it controls our hormones. The endocrine system dumps large amounts of estrogen and that is when we experience all the ups and downs of PMS, fatigue, bloating, and digestive problems, just to name a few. Wishing you a life free of pain.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
