A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I think I've started Menopause. I wonder if this means I'll no longer suffer Endo?

I'm 54 and had a hysterectomy/oophorectomy nearly 10 years ago. I do still have symptoms, but they are different. The severe pain is gone, but I get bloating, rectal pain, rectal bleeding, and that all-over exhaustion that the disease always brought me. I'm a pretty severe case, though, as when I was younger and first experiencing symptoms, endo wasn't even widely accepted as a real illness! It was more than a decade before I ever got treatment, and when I did the surgical techniques were not what we have now so despite 10 surgeries it kept coming back. I had a partial hysterectomy and then a few years later my last ovary removed. Most doctors said my case was unusually severe - that sounds like a weird flex haha. Anyway, if anyone was going to have symptoms post-menopause, it would be me. Hoping this stage of life brings relief to you!
