Hello! I finally found a doctor after 8 years who will be doing a laparoscopy for me to determine if I 100% have Endometriosis. As of right now, I have every symptom in the book and I have a family history of Endo, but my ultrasound came back negative. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into a clean ultrasound but was still diagnosed with Endometriosis? I've read (and my doctor has said) that there's a very good chance that I still have it even though it didn't show up, but I honestly feel… read more
My understanding is that a laparoscopy is the best and only diagnostic procedure to confirm endometriosis
& yes i had two negative “normal” ultrasounds even though my pelvic pain was worsening and now i am 10 days post-op lap & hysteroscopy with endo tissue removal and fibroids removed with cysts removed too. Keep on keeping on with your search for a doctor who cares and listens - they do exist
Suzanne, check out Dr Matthew Leonardi - lots of progress being made with US diagnosis, in conjunction with symptom reporting, etc! Hopefully this will reduce diagnosis time in the future, but it will take a long time for better access to people with specialised training in it.
Not personally but endo can be very difficult to detect on US and many sonographers/Drs have not had specialized training to detect it, and it depends on the stage etc also. It sounds very likely that you have endo… i hope your lap will give some answers and symptom relief. I felt like i had a secret slow growing cancer for about a decade before i got diagnosed with endo and it all made sense. ❤️
It was laproscopy that found mine, i never had an ultra sound. Im glad to hear you have one.
I had it for 20 years before they found it, by then it was stage 4 and nasty, so i hope they find it and whethere they do or not if you have the pain & bleeding, stay in the group for support, we literally feel your frustration & pain... lol
Take care, good luck and if they tell you about shoulder tip pain after the lapro, they mean it, but if you stay flat for a few hours after.
