ok so this might go into TMI but I just wanted to ask if anyone here has ever done a specific ultrasound for Endo which is a transvaginal one? I have an appointment to do one on Tuesday and its my first one ever.
I have to have a laxative and an enema before the appointment and I've never done anything like that before, I'm quite nervous about the whole entire thing. So if anyone here has ever done ANY of this before, I would like to know if its uncomfortable or any thing like that. Thanks.
I had a transvaginal ultrasound before my laparoscopic surgery. It didn't really hurt at all, since the wand is well lubricated. I didn't have to have a laxative or enema, so that's odd that they're… read more
So at my 1 year post op appt I told my surgeon/OBGYN I was having some pain in my kidney area and blood in my stool and urine once a month around the time I would have my period if I hadn’t had a hysterectomy. She said she was limited to only being able to look at the pelvic area so when she did the diagnostic laparoscopy she didn’t go anywhere near those areas. Who do you see to get diagnosed with bowel endo??
Ok so update incase anyone else has this question, I got a 3D vaginal ultrasound done today. They were able to see my ovary is stuck to my bowels. They also said it’s a great way to see what organs… read more
Also recommend getting different opinions. I've been to about 8 OBGYNs since 2016 before one finally brought up endometriosis. I wasn't diagnosed with a laparoscopy, but she considered all my… read more
I have not had the surgery to have endo confirmed, but it is suspected by my new doc. She has put me on Yaz as I don't tolerate other types of bc. I am wondering what to expect from being back on bc? Will it supress the growth, symptoms? I assume that it won't make it regress? She has also mentioned wanting to send me to a specialist for, what I am not sure. Possible surgery I think?
I think that's my birth control... I'm not at home to check. I did really well on it for a few years....
If not, how else is it diagnosed?
I was diagnosed through ultrasound and also internal examinations apparently with adenomyosis the uterus looks and feels 'bulky' xx
I recently was diagnosed with suspected endometriosis due to unbearable pain and digestive issues during my period and sharp stabbing pains especially during ovulation. I went today to get a routine pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound to see if there is anything else that could be causing this. The pap smear/pelvic exam went fine, but the ultrasound was terrible. The way my ovaries are positioned, she had to push the device quite hard at weird angles to see them. It felt like bad period pain… read more
My ovary is not where it's supposed to be, so she always has to use extra pressure. The pain makes me want to scream and throw up. It lasts up to days afterwards and the dr said that's normal for my… read more
Can you have stage 4 endometriosis without any endometriomas showing up on the ultrasound?
Sadly, It is difficult to pick up endo on ultrasound unless the physician is REALLY skilled and knows what to look for.
Is it normal/possible to have endometriosis with no cysts or fibroids? I have had two ultrasounds with Kaiser with each time ending with negative results. Both times my bladder was really full (the ultrasound I had to empty my bladder twice! And still had enough for a third trip to the bathroom) and I'm not sure if that messes with the results or not.. just curious. Thank you!
Susanne is correct. Endo will not show up on ultrasound, CT Scan or MRI. Surgery is the only definitive way to diagnose endometriosis. The bladder issue doesn't interfere with the ultrasound. The… read more
It took so many years to "convince" a doctor that I had endo. My ultrasound are always clean. No cysts or anything.
What do your ultrasounds show?
Ultra sounds do not show endo. The only way to know for sure if That is what is going on inside is to have a laparoscopy procedure, to look inside . Hope that helps.
Both internal and external ultrasound was very painful. I had a cyst rupture with lots of internal bleeding in Nov so this was follow up ultrasound. Why would it still be painful? Can endometriosis make it painful? I was diagnosed when I had my hysterectomy.
I had an internal ultrasound in the afternoon and it was a little bit painful/ uncomfortable at the time but nothing extreme. However, later that night from about 11pm til 4am I had the worst pain I'd… read more
