What Does The Pain With Intercourse Feel Like For You?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been told I have vaginismus (and I've believed it) 5 years prior to being told I have endometriosis. I might confuse the pain from each. Can any of you who have this symptom describe the location and sensation of the pain?

Pain (and bleeding) with intercourse were the first symptoms that made me seek a doctor. I also had (have?) fibroids at the time so it might be that, but it feels like a dull pain below my stomach and inside feels like stabbing/rubbing pain like my insides are swollen and tender (for lack of a better description). This has gotten a bit better from having a D&C and ablation, but I still sometimes feel that dull pain.

I get dysmenorrhea often and the difference for me between that and painful intercourse is the location of the pains. The dysmenorrhea tends to be very sharp stabbing like pains along the vaginal walls that can vary from very short intense bursts to lasting a few minutes tops while painful intercourse is a more "all around" pain which also tends to leave my entire pelvis feeling sore afterwards.
