Most of you know I just transferred doctors offices. I haven't met with my new normal gyne yet. The gyne I met with was the one available for the post ER check in with your doctor appointment. Does it matter to you if you have a female/male gyne? Who do you have? I know this sounds sexist, but I think it would be different if I didn't have the history of Endo and cysts. I'm not so sure when I was 20 and had surgery that male gyne surgeons and assistants would have been as careful to protect my… read more
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member in fact, my surgeon is from Canada but lives in Georgia now to have a great hospital to work out of
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member it is legal there, you have a few in canada but due to the Healthcare system up there it is difficult to get an OB to spend the time to learn the skill as they still only get paid based off the cauterization lap procedure even though vaporization is much more difficult. Sad that is how it is... it is worth it to find one though
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I just realized you are in canada, that may be difficult to find a proper surgeon. Get on FB and join Nancy's Nook and download the excision specialist file. That will give you an idea of who you may want to see in your area. I'm in Florida and must travel to Georgia for mine.
Thanks everyone. I'm trying to figure out if I can/want to stick with the gyne I met with post ER or if I'll be with that new one assigned to me who is female.
I hate to say it, but in 2005 when I had my emergency laparotomy, I'm just not so sure a male would have been as overly careful to protect those parts.
I'll still need the Endo experts who are seemingly all men, but for a regular gyne....
I had more problem with male doctor's who didn't believe my pain, and had more critical ideas about how it was my lifestyle, in my head, and various other scenarios. My male OB's were older and made me feel very uncomfortable, I then met with my current OB and she if great. She is younger, and understands somewhat what I am going through. She understands that I have a high pain tolerance so when I start coming in more and more asking for help or complaining of pain that something is wrong.
