I am now fearfully facing an HSG as my husband and I have been TTC for a year without success. With Stage IV, I'm both afraid of not knowing what is going on as well as finding out what might be going on, so any stories and experiences you care to share would be a great help. Thanks in advance, ladies.
Whoa, I hit answer without finishing. I was unexplained infertility, but now I know that I am fertile, with endo stage four. Your tubes may be open, but sometimes there may be endo growing that you might want to get checked out before to make sure your reproductive organs are okay. I would hate for you to go through what I went through.
I recently had an HSG done (didn't have a firm grasp on what it was actually going to be like). I have never tried to conceive so a few of the nurses were confused why I was having it done, but the doctor told me I needed it. I hadn't taken any pain medication prior to it. It was a very painful procedure for me (but this may also be because of having pelvic floor muscle spasm syndrome). Initially the doctor said it worked at unblocking my tubes so I could now get pregnant if I wanted to, and then a week later when I asked for a copy of the dictation, he said it hadn't worked but it doesn't matter because I wasn't trying to conceive. (I'm not going to this doctor anymore…) I don't mean to make it sound negative, this was just my experience.
Good luck with your HSG. Take ibuprofen about 45 minutes before the procedure since it is uncomfortable. Most likely your tubes will be clear :)
Jordan, you've heard me mention it before...acupuncture can work wonders with fertility, because it really reduces all the swelling. So his side is normal too in terms of fertility. It may not be your fault. More men have issues and so often the female is the one blaming themselves.
@Lola- thank you for sharing your experiences! I'm hoping if anything is "clogged" the HSG will clear it up and we will be given the green light to baby dance
