Recently my GYN referred me to a gastroenterologist due to an extremely painful pelvic exam and symptoms I have presented.
(My appointment isn't until October, so I have not yet been established with this new doctor.)
My GYN is thinking it is a possibility that my endometriosis has now spread to my rectum.
I have not been able to find much information on rectal endometriosis and was hoping someone would have some insight.
Occasionally, but I'm not sure if that was endo. I has alot of rectal pain and CONSTANT ache.

I do have a personal question. Before your hysterectomy, did you have blood in your stool? I've been having rectal pain for awhile now, and during my exam the pain increased. But recently I have had blood in my stool.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I was thinking the same thing. He pretty much refuses to do surgery. He has me on a new medication called Letrozole. It's a breast cancer medication but those with Endo have received relief, as well as their endometriosis implants and cysts shrinking in size. But the side effects are horrid. Joint and bone pain, tiredness and fatigue, head aches, loss of appetite, hair loss, the list goes on. So far it hasn't decreased my pelvic pain either. I've been on it for about 2 1/2 weeks but it's an aggressive treatment for the next few months. I don't know if it's worth it.
I recently had a complete hysterectomy and my dr did ALOT of work on my sigmoid colon which is right above the rectum. For some reason, the endo spread there the most and my dr was actually shocked at how aggressive it was. I'm actually surprised your dr is referring you to someone else if he thinks it's endo if he's a true specialist.
