When Were You Diagnosed And What Age? Any Misdiagnoses Or Comments From Your Doctors?

Hi there, i was just wondering how long it took for some of you ladies to be diagnosed for me it was 6 years and am currently sueing my old womans health doctor for negligence. She kept saying it was normal period pains and irregular period and i was normal. I just want to hear some of my endosisters stories so can get an idea on what is normal and what isnt for waiting. Also what ages were you diagnosed.

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member clary sage is great. The company I use had a blend called Clary Calm that is amazing! It has a lot of different oils in it. And I use frankincense to help with the painful sex.

I haven't been officially diagnosed, but my gyno says he highly suspects it because of all of my symptoms. I was 18 when I first went to a doc about it. She said it's dysmenorrhea and gave me BC. They helped with a little, but also gave me bad side effects. I stopped the BC and just dealt with it for 2 years. A friend introduced my to essential oils that have helped with the pain. Went to the Gyno in December because I couldn't enjoy sex with my husband and we want kids. He said try until April (that will be 1 year of trying) and then we'll discuss doing a lap.

Same here, I had intense pain from first period at 13 and highly irregular bleeding. Doctors shrugged it off. After 3 gynaes and many GPS, I finally found a gynae who actually listened and told me about endo. This was 8 years later. Even now that I am on Visanne and treating two chocolate cysts, doctors and gynaes don't seem to care very much about my concerns of side effects etc. Very frustrating. I am glad to hear you are suing. We pay good money to our doctors and many of them treat us with little to no respect. It's heartbreaking that many people can be treated who don't even know treatment is out there.

I was diagnosed at 35 after having horrible periods and cramps since 11 years old. Also my mother had it,as well as my maternal cousin. Still the Dr. told me I didn't have it until I developed horrible ovarian cysts 5 cm or bigger, they found endometriosis when the removed cysts.
