Scheduled For First Laparoscopy
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am scheduled to have my first diagnostic laparoscopy to see if I have endometriosis on next week, March 18th. How long should I expect to be out of work and what should I expect from the procedure.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you ladies. I really appreciate it. I'm a not nervous and today the pain was horrible. Good thing is my job has been understanding. I told them I would be back to work Monday after the procedure on Friday and they insisted I take longer.

Thanks again.

I just had my third procedure and I was out for exactly a week. I felt fine after about 4 days and ended up pushing myself too hard, so I'd plan for a whole week so you don't overdo it. Also, I'm not sure about everyone else or how yours will be done exactly, but I was in bed the entire time after my second due to the trapped air in my shoulder. No one mentioned the use of CO2 during surgery and I was convinced someone broke my shoulder blade until someone else told me about it lol. It was horrendous and laying in bed made it much, much worse. Heat and moving around some, or sitting up helped me this last time. Here is some more info and it talks about the shoulder pain: http://endometriosis.org/resources/articles/lap...

Good luck! :)

Depends on your job too if it's a desk job you'll probably only be off a week two at most. Longer for manual work x

It all depends on your body and on your doctor skill level. I was down for a week with my Laparoscopy.

I would suggest give yourself all the time you need to recover, I took 3 weeks to recover fully but was back to walking and doing thing after 3 days.

Make sure you're fully rested before your op, I was very tired and unwell when I went for mine and I definitely think it elongated my recovery time.

The procedure is invasive and your body will have a bit of a shock but its amazing what your body can do in terms of healing itself.

Wishing you the best of luck and Endo love xxxx
