I've been working from home for well over a year now and prior to that I'd worked with close friends for over a decade. So I've been insanely lucky in that I've never really had to figure out how to address absences or sick days due to my endo because I was either working alone or with friends that knew and were understanding.

It wasn't easy seeing my boss is a man! A traditional man at that! He was to fair very good as his daughter suffers! I explained about my treatment etc.. And he's been very good. If I'm having a particularly bad day I either work from home or I do things that I am cope with. He's been very flexible!
I have had my endo severely impact 2 jobs I have had. Each time I had a conversation face to face with my employer explain this illness and the chronic pain that comes with it. I also said if they needed a medical note/recommendation from my doctor I could provide that. Both times each one was very understanding! And thankful for the insight of a disease they have never heard of.
I too had endo severely impact my work and ended up losing the job. I am not sure what the right answer is here. I currently have a somewhat understanding boss but the truth is the empathy is lacking.
