Bladder
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hey everyone! I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced bladder urgency related to endometriosis? I'm only 21 and am being woken up at ridiculous hours feeling the need to pee, peeing and then still feeling the urgency! I feel like I have the bladder of an old woman! Any advice would be appreciated! X

I'm still trying to figure out how to get any health care profession to take me seriously, but yes I've had bladder problems. Urgency, pain/swelling when bladder is full and painful urination, peeing every hour, waking up twice a night, even when I ate too much my bladder hurt. I had a cystoscopy which yielded no results. Adhesion on the exterior of the bladder cannot be diagnosed with a cystoscopy. The urologist diagnosed me with institial cystitis, and told me to stop with the coffee and acidic foods. Well that barely made a difference, and I was convinced I had an endo adhesion on the outside of my bladder. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about that, I was told, then my urologist offered me a plethora of treatments/therapies for institial cystitis, which I was convinced I didn't have. Plus I've spent enough money and time on useless prescriptions. Fast forward a year, I'm in labour with my second child. I am 8cm dilated and labouring hard, but baby wouldn't budge. I had an emergency c-section, but they had trouble getting her out of my incision, my bladder was high and attached to my abdominal wall. My incision size was doubled and my baby was finally freed from me. Here's the good news, my bladder problems have since disappeared, my bladder adhesion was broken! So glad I didn't waste money on interstitial cystitis medications and therapies. Here's the annoying part, my csection was not performed by my doctor, and I only saw the doctor that performed the csection for about one minute, so there is no doctor that can confirm I had an adhesion on he exterior of my bladder. I know I did though. Unfortunately when you have endo, there will be things you will know and feel that will never be substantiated or confirmed by a medical professional. Just stay strong, be your best advocate!

Yes! All day long. My work place think I run off to get out of doing work. It's usually every 30 minutes I'll feel the urgency to pee! I try to hold on but can't for any longer than 30 - 40 minutes.

I wake up 2-3 times during the night to go to the bathroom but it isn't a problem during the day...or maybe I just hold my bladder more. Teachers don't get to use the bathroom much. It never occurred to me that it may be related to the endometriosis.
