What Should I Ask During My Post Op Appointment?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have my post op appointment today after my first laparoscopic surgery for endo. All i was told was that I have stage 3 and they weren't able to get all of it. My doctor isn't really long winded so I'm wondering what type of questions I should ask to get the most info from him. I may decide to seek a specialist if I continue to have issues so I need to know what exactly is going on.

Thanks ladies :)

@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member how was your experience with Lupron? My doctor has suggested it but I'm terrified of the side effects

If there isn't a specialist in your area, you go to one. Me and many many other women are traveling to other states to specialists. It's worth it.

if there isn't a specialist in your area. Then I would ask what his next step is going to be. More than likely, they will suggest some form of IUD. After they give you the IUD. If you are still experiencing pain, go back and ask for lupron/norethindrone. I did six months of the lupron/norethindrone, I had very few bad side effects. I had a few hot flashes here and there, I was a little more emotional, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. I have been off of the injections for about a year and half. I am just now starting to experience endo pain and as of now, it is just occasionally, and it hasn't gotten to the point of effecting my day to day life. I know as time goes on it will get worse and I will have to go back to the doctor, but the lupron/norethindrone definitely wasn't a bad route for me to go, and it is definitely worth discussing with your doctor.

Get a specialist NOW! A specialist wouldn't put you on lupron and keep doing lap surgeries. Get an excision specialist and don't waste your time with the obgyn. That's the best advice I could give anyone

Ask about Lupron Treatments or what you should be doing to stop your periods. My doc let me go 3 months post surgery with my periods non-stop. I saw a different doc and had to do 6 months of Lupron and another surgery (because the endo grew back during that time), due to my first docs error or letting me keep having a period.
I now have an IUD and the arm implant and they have stopped the periods, almost... Good Luck!
