Is It Possible For Endo To Come Back 6 Months After A Laparoscopy?

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Janesville, WI

I had my first diagnostic laparoscopy March 2016 which gave me pain relief for about 2 months. I have tried many different hormonal suppression therapies since surgery. Depo x2 months, then aygestin + femara, then aygestin + lupron.. now OCPs .. possible Mirena IUD to come soon. The pain comes and goes as well as menses. Despite all of those therapies, is it still possible for endo to come back so quickly? ...With vengeance?!

Members confirmed that endometriosis can return quickly after laparoscopy, with many sharing that their own symptoms came back within 4 to 6 months, particularly when endo is burned away rather than excised or when advanced-stage disease or adhesions are present. Several members described brief periods of relief lasting only a few months before pain returned, sometimes even more intensely, and emphasized the importance of advocating for oneself when doctors question the need for additional surgery despite ongoing symptoms. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of endo recurrence and the emotional toll of managing chronic pain, met with solidarity and encouragement from the community to stay strong and informed.

Yes and especially if they burn it away instead of cutting it out. Sorry. Hugs.

I have had four lap surgeries in six years (including partial hysterectomy and later ovary removal and appendectomy related to endo) and each time it comes back. Each time I would have maybe three glorious pain-free months and then it returned with a vengeance.

Hi! I had my lap last Jan.2017 and period w/excruciating pain came back March 22 2017🙁My doctor didnt put me right away in Decapeptyl , I don't know if he's experimenting or what coz he said he removed ALL and very sure that endo will not come back! So when I came to his clinic last month he still stand on what he said but put me in Decapeptyl for 3 months🤔 I don't trust his word anymore and I will never come back to his clinic again not to mention he took thousands of $ for performing lap😤
