A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello has anyone ever experienced endometriosis on your colon? What were your symptoms? How was it diagnosed? Did you have it removed? If not what did they do?

Yes I have endo on my colon. My surgeon decided to leave it there for now as he explained I might have to have a colostomy bag if it was removed. I get a horrible sharp pain in rectum when passing gas or during bowel movement.

My colon endometriosis was diagnosed at laparoscopy, lasered and not excused. Colonoscopy before surgery is needed to see if other problems are present or if endometriosis has penetrated the colon wall. Colon resection is needed if it cannot be excised with a clear margin. Constipation, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, gut cramping are all symptoms. Scar tissue or adhesions may also be present which produce sharp or burning pain.

My main symptom was bleeding after bowel movements and a sharp shooting pain. I had endo removed off my bowel almost ended up with a colostomy as the endo almost went through the whole bowel.
