Hysterectomy Results
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi I'm looking for any info on hysterectomy and endo coming back. I know hysterectomy isn't a cure but I would like to hear all stories good and bad as I'm debating whether to just have lap to get rid of endo or have a hysterectomy. Any advice welcome the more the better. Look forward to hear from people

I'm having everything removed but my right ovary. That ovary should prevent me from menopause for a while. I was diagnosed at stage 4 though with it also on my bowel. I think your options decrease the higher stages you are. For me it was an easy decision as I'm 41 with no desire for kids.

Hysterectomy did not cure my pain because endo was on the uterosacral ligaments which are outside the uterus and attached to the sacrum which gives backache. The endo on them was left in when the uterus was removed. These ligaments are along the sides of the uterus and may cause irritability of the uterus with cramping.

I do not consider it for now, but the only way to get rid of the source of the problem is by a full hysterectomy, but if some cells remain you will get it back, specially if you do hormone therapy. It is not a cure, but it might help.
Think carefully...
