How Do You Cope/deal With Excessive Fatigue
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Evening everyone :) I was just wondering if anyone else suffers from serious fatigue/exhaustion and how you cope/deal with it? I have been really struggling lately, my cola intake has gone insane which is not good as I am diabetic (so my blood sugar has gone through the roof) but it's only thing stopping me from sleeping 24/7, I am constantly exhausted. Does anyone take anything they've found has helped with fatigue or is there anything you do which helps? Thank you :)

I say this without judgment, but with empathy as someone who knows the vicious cycle of fatigue all too well-- if the sodas are sending your blood sugar so high, please switch to diet or ditch them all together. I know you need it to get by in the moment, but it's going to make things worse. I haven't found much that helps my fatigue, but I'm trying to get better at preventing it. I think that's key. Rest is really important, not just physically, but mentally as well. For me, this often means lying down a few times a day if I'm home and definitely when I get home if it's been a long day. It also meant scaling back my workouts because they were putting so much stress on my body and I'd sleep literally the entire weekend. I usually don't know I've done too much until it's too late, so I take breaks while I'm cleaning or doing anything physical. I've heard vitamin D is helpful for some people, and a school acquaintance said her doc recommended folic acid. Have you checked in with your endocrinologist to see if it could be diabetes related? I'm sorry you're having such a rough time 💛💛

I didn't want to go completely for the anti-inflammatory diet route, so I take several supplements that help with inflammation and that has helped me. As crazy as it sounds, exercise has helped me too. I don't go crazy, just taking a walk around the block or even a swim.

If you haven't tried it, I've found a mostly anti-inflammatory diet really, really helps my energy levels although not the pain sadly. It's pretty annoying really, but worth a try for at least 3 months so you know how it impacts your cycle. I found that gluten, dairy and coffee really affect my energy level and have made colon pain a little milder. And vitamin D is a great tip!
