What types of side effects are you having and how often? Specifically bleeding/spotting, headaches and extreme exhaustion.
I took Visanne for 2 years and went off for 6 months. I've been back on since February and this time is completely different. Just looking for trends to quiet my mind until I see the doctor.
I was on Visanne on and off for 2 years - the side effects are really bad! If you are struggling, try find out if you can get Maxim in your country? I got it in Germany - it's meant to be very similar to Visanne but have a balance regarding side effects - I've been using it since my last lap and the only side effect I've had is a bit of weight gain! Absolute winner!
Try get Maxim, its a german medication but I'm sure they must sell it elsewhere! It's been amazing for me.
Wishing you luck, and watch out for the emotional depressive side-effects on Visanne after 4-5 months! (I wasn't consciously aware that I was depressed, just felt a bit like I couldn't truly experience happiness, like my emotions were caged in - was a mighty relief when I stopped taking it!)
I almost forgot about the hot flashes and waking up sweating all the time! Thank you for responding and sharing.
This is my 2nd time on Visanne. The first time was super effective but the side effects started getting to me so I went off. The pain started getting worse and worse each month when I was off it so I went back on because I thought it was better to deal with the side effects when I'm in less pain in general from the pills.
Only this time has been completely different! I spotted for 3 months straight and then I was awesome for about a year, still in pain but way less. This time it's bleed 7 days-cramps 5 days-cramps 7 days-cramps 5 days and PAIN throughout. So weird.
I was on visanne for 7 months, it made me irritable, depressed, fatigued, mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, spotting, longer periods up to 2 1/2 weeks. It was horrible - I couldn't take it anymore so I went off of it. My pain has worsened again now that I've been off of it. Not sure what to do but will never take it again!
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member Thank you for sharing this. I am very curious about Maxim now, I've never heard of it before. I'm attempting to research it but I'm having trouble with my phone. I keep getting the guys Maxim non med stuff when I search, lol. I'm going to see if my GP knows anything about it and check it out again next time I'm on a desktop. 😉. I seem to be evening out on the Visanne emotional side effect wise, just not pain and on/off bleeding wise yet. Almost at 3 months now, I just want to know when the bleeding will stop already, it's so exhausting!
