Adenomyosis Ugh
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi anyone out there in endometriosis land that has adenomyosis? Just found out I have this and have been given the option of A. a hysterectomy or B. go in for a lap for the usual endo cleanup (won't help the adenomysosis) and try an IUD.

I am not sure I am ready to give up the goods yet but having to go back in for a 2nd surgery if I have no relief does not sound fun either.

Anyone have luck with the IUD?

I was just diagnosed with likely adenomyosis and I’ve had an iud for 3 years. The new specialist I went to wants to take out my iud because she thinks it might be irritating things. I’m on visanne now which from studies I’ve read shows promise in reducing pain in adenomyosis as well

I have both and am on Visanne as well. Have used the copper IUD in the past no problem but def not the same as Mirena. Have heard Mirena can be very helpful if it doesn't irritate things too much.

I was just diagnosed with a mild cause. My doctor suggested the best treatment was the Mirena IUD. I've been off my pill bc for less than a month and awaiting a hormone test once its all cleared out of my system. My plan is to do the IUD. If you try it before, please feel free to share your experience with the insertion.
