Sex With Endo

A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hi ladies. I know this may be a bit of an awkward question, but I have been so scared to have sex because it hurts so much with endo. Does anyone have any tips as to what may reduce the pain and make sex actually enjoyable??

Members offered compassionate advice on managing pain during sex with endometriosis, emphasizing the importance of listening to your body, stopping if it hurts, and only engaging when you feel ready rather than pushing through discomfort. Several members shared practical strategies that helped them, including taking anti-inflammatory medication beforehand, using a heating pad or pain patches, showering with hot water to relax pelvic muscles before intimacy, investing in quality lubricant, and experimenting with positions that allow for control over depth and movement. A recurring theme was the value of open communication with partners, trying cannabis or CBD products for relaxation and pain relief, and giving yourself grace on difficult days while prioritizing comfort and pleasure over obligation.

Pain is really painful to me, but we are TTC so we kind of have to do it. I would recommend to NOT make yourself suffer. If it hurts, stop.

Some stuff that helped me with the pain was showering before... even though a lot of people shower after sex. But to me, the hot water relaxed all my muscles, especially in the pelvic area and made it better. I would also invest in decent AND OBGYN approved lubricant.

Foria has a natural lube that has thc and cbd in it along with coconut oil that has helped me with the pain of having sex.

I researched certain positions. You need to use positions where you can control the movement and depth. And open communication is essential here, if its hurting say something and try another position.
Personally, I rarely have sex if I'm not high. Everything is super relaxed so you can really enjoy the experience without the pain afterwards

Anti inflammatory and trying different positions. I find some position can be horrific like missionary but others much more comfortable. I also use a lot of pillows 😊

I'm no help. I'm not sexually active but my doctor told me it would hurt because of my endo. Isn't that lovely?
